Both organizations finally hit rock bottom with today's full-page ad titled "General Petraeus or General Betray Us? Cooking the Books for the White House." I won't dignify these cowards by adding a link to their pathetic ad or site, but you can find intelligent coverage and analysis at Hot Air.
And while you won't hear a single Democrat openly approve of this despicable attack, several of them, including Sens. Reid and Feinstein, have said the exact same thing on camera recently. Even those Dems who shy away from the NYT attack don't seem to mind taking money from MoveOn.org or Code Pink or other Left-Wing loons. And, as Michelle Malkin points out:
The Politico newspaper reported Friday: “‘No one wants to call [Petraeus] a liar on national TV,’ noted one Democratic senator, who spoke on the condition on anonymity. ‘The expectation is that the outside groups will do this for us.’
Welcome to the "new" Democratic Party, America. A party that is completely bullied and run roughshod over by organizations that want nothing but anarchy and chaos for this nation. They hate the police. They hate the military. They hate the separate but equal democratic process. They hate America.
And we'll see the proof in the next few days; will the "leaders" of that party come forward to condemn this cowardly attack and back the General that they approved 81-0 to lead our forces in Iraq? Or will they show their support of this character assassination by remaining quiet and saying nothing? Watch and see, America, because some of these people are running for POTUS. Are these people representative of who you want to run our country?
I also find it interesting that they let these CodePink nutjobs into the hearing, knowing full-well that they would start their childish chants as soon as the General started to speak. Why weren't these people screened out if the Chairman Skelton was so hell-bent on running an honest and interruption-free hearing? He then promised that those protesters, including Grade-A Nut Cindy Sheehan (who was arrested) would be "prosecuted under the law." Yeah, I'll hold my breath for that one.
For the record, Gen. Petraeus and Amb. Crocker each have an exemplary record of service and dedication to our great nation. Gen. Petraeus's leadership has been impeccable and the only gains we have seen after four years in Iraq have come under his tutelage. Agree or disagree with these gentleman all you like. But their courage, integrity and commitment are above reproach.
You should also remember that ninety-plus percent of these nuts have never served their country in the military and have never been to either Iraq or Afghanistan. So their level of expertise is that's how I feel. Unbelievable.
Pay attention and decide for yourselves, America: whom do you trust? Those who serve the flag or those who would burn it?

Flopping Aces has the graphs up.
For the record, I too call on all members of Congress, of both parties, to denounce this personal attack and demand a public apology from both the NY Times and MoveOn.Org. These cowardly attacks and outright lies are the perfect of example of what is wrong in America. Our politicians must be remain above this type of vicious character assassination and actually do something, for a change!

Vets For Freedom takes up the cry:
"Let's be clear: MoveOn.org is suggesting that General Petraeus has 'betrayed' his country. This is disgusting. To attack as a traitor an American general commanding forces in war, because his ‘on the ground' experience does not align with MoveOn.org's political objectives, is utterly shameful. It shows contempt for America's military leadership, as well as for the troops who have confidence in him, as our fellow soldiers in Iraq certainly do.
"General Petraeus has served this country for over 35 years with honor, distinction, and integrity. And this is not just about General Petraeus. After all, if General Petraeus is "cooking the books," then the entire military chain of command in Baghdad, and all the staff, military and civilian, who have been working with General Petraeus are complicit, since Petraeus did not write his report in isolation. They are all, apparently, 'betray[ing] us.'
"MoveOn.org has been working closely with the Democratic congressional leadership - as an article in today's Sunday New York Times Magazine makes clear. And consider this comment by a Democratic senator from Friday's Politico: "'No one wants to call [Petraeus] a liar on national TV,' noted one Democratic senator, who spoke on the condition on anonymity. ‘The expectation is that the outside groups will do this for us.'
"So, veterans who served in Iraq ask the Democratic leaders in Congress: Does MoveOn.org speak for you? Do you agree with MoveOn.org? Or do you repudiate this despicable charge?
"MoveOn.org has helped frame the core choice: Whom do we trust to run this war - MoveOn.org and its allies in Congress, or Gen. David Petraeus and his colleagues?"
Sounds familiar.
Both the general and the Ambassador did an hour-long interview with Brit Hume on FOX News tonight. If you missed the Democrats posturing hearing today, catch a replay for the highlights. Yes, it's that important.

I watched all of the hearings today. The R's brought up the ad, the D's ignored it and bristled each time it was mentioned. At one point, a Congresswoman said, "We should all distance ourselves from this." A D spoke up and said, "We can't distance ourselves from something we didn't do."
Overall, the D's were quite disrespectful to Gen Petraeus.
