Amnesty/Shamnesty Bill Stalls

So it's hung-up in the Senate with another vote pending. Will the government ever get this right?

Let's re-hash:

• Close the border, now
• Enhance border patrol efforts, both north and south
• Deport all alien criminals and those already scheduled for deportation
• Enforce ALL existing immigration laws, including tougher laws for identity fraud and theft

Then and only then:

• A new immigration policy regarding those already here
• NO AMNESTY
• No free passes to families of aliens
• Guest worker program? Yes!
• Legal and fair path to citizenship? Yes.
• Zero tolerance for alien criminals
• Stop employers from hiring illegal aliens
• And once again, ENFORCE OUR LAWS!

And, just for fun, let's look at the new goverment crackdown on illegal immigration in France:

France set tough new quotas for the number of illegal immigrants authorities should arrest and expel each month, the new immigration minister said Monday.

Brice Hortefeux, who heads the newly created Ministry of Immigration, Integration, National Identity and Co-Development, said a monthly quota also would be set for ferreting out those employed in France illegally.
In a meeting with security officials, Hortefeux reiterated President Nicolas Sarkozy’s goal of 25,000 expulsions by the end of 2007 - compared with 24,000 in 2006 - and set a year-end goal of 125,000 arrests for alleged illegal entry or illegal residence, a ministry statement said. The number of those already arrested was not immediately clear.
