Amnesty Bill Pushed by the White House
Well, it seems that the President is going to try once again to force the Bush-McCain-Kennedy Amnesty Bill through, even though most Americans fervently oppose it.
The President has scheduled a luncheon with Republican senators Tuesday and will attempt to get them to listen to him - rather than the vast majority of Americans - and support this pathetic bill. Let's hope that they have the courage to resist his onslaught and do what's right for America.
This is a fight for the future of our children and the future of our great nation. A not-so-distant future, at that.
The government has refused to enforce the laws pertaining to illegal immigration, but they insist that this time they're really serious! This time, they'll follow through. This time, they'll stop the flow of illegals into this country. This time, they'll really build that fence. This time, we really will hire more Border Patrol Agents. This time, our country and people will be safe. This time, our citizens won't be paying for entitlements for people that refuse to obey our laws. This time, aliens who want to come here and work will all obey the law. This time, we'll make it work!
Well, I say bullshit! (yes, I just violated my "profanity-free blog" rule!)
They have already said that they will stop enforcing any immigration laws if this bill doesn't go through. What kind of petty, vindictive, political crap is that? These people are our elected leaders? They sound more like kids in a sandbox: it's either my way or I'll take my toys and go home.
This bill is about a president who is trying to leave a legacy and a Congress who couldn't care less about the future of this country. The Senate took Friday off and, instead of working to ensure the safety of our nation, is spending the day playing political games over whether or not Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is qualified to do his job (note: he obviously isn't since, like Michael Chertoff, he refuses to enforce our laws. Isn't that his job?). Why weren't they voting to oust the crooked Rep. William Jefferson instead? Hmmm...
We don't need a damned 800-page policy that no one reads and no one will enforce, we need to enforce the laws we already have. And we must demand that others that come here follow the same rules as the rest of us.
We all must refuse to Bow!
Stop President Bush and stop this bill.
Call your Senator - and any pro-amnesty Senator - at 202.224.3121 and encourage them to stop this madness. Here's how your Senator voted on the Amnesty Bill originally.
Here are a few reasons to stop Senate Bill 1348:
- The bill offers legal status to illegal aliens the day the bill takes effect. That's before any fence is built, before any Border Patrol Agents are hired and before any law enforcement efforts take place. The "triggers" that pro-amnesty folks like to talk about only apply to requiring enforcement before a new guest worker program and before illegal aliens apply for citizenship. They can work and live here legally, for the rest of their lives, whether we ever enforce these laws or not. Read AMNESTY!
- It's easy to overstay a visa. The bill allows temporary workers, visitors and students to overstay their visas without having to worry about being detected by the government. The "check in/check out" measure for foreign visitors was defeated.
- So-called "sanctuary cities" can continue to encourage illegal immigration.
- Those aliens granted the initial amnesty can bring their families in, too. That includes mothers/fathers/children/sisters/brothers/in laws/grandparents/cousins etc.etc. Now how many people will be here legally with this bill?
- When all is said and done, we still have to take the government's word that from now on they will obey and enforce our laws, something that they have steadfastly refused to do for some twenty years.
We have to stop this bill.
We have to demand that the U.S. Government honor our laws and protect our country.
We have to elect leaders that will do the right thing for America, and get rid of the ones who won't.
And we have to start today!
