Great American Boycott: so what?
In this post, I shared the agenda of the immigration activists behind the GAB II: unconditional legalization for all immigrants.
By all accounts, the crowds were much smaller than anticipated, but the usual Mexican flags, chants in Spanish and the pleas for Americans to take care of anyone who has the strength to make it here were present.
This year the plan seems to be to appeal to the emotions of politicians: the old immigration raids break up families argument was flying fast and furiously. Apparently, no one bothered to ask these people what kind of parents would smuggle their kids into a foreign country, thereby committing a felony, placing said family in jeopardy in the first place. Maybe we should quit arresting murderers and rapists too, since that might break up families.
But what do you expect when POTUS and Congress lack the courage to address this issue and make our country safe for Americans. Why should we protect the "rights" of these people when we steadfastly refuse to protect our own country and people?
A "peaceful" rally got ugly at MacArthur Park in Los Angeles and several people, including 15 police officers, were hurt. When the crowd moved into the street and LAPD tried to disperse them, officers immediately began taking rocks and bottles. They responded with typical riot control tactics: rubber bullets, baton thrusts and tactical formations. But LAPD Chief Bratton has already thrown his officers under the bus.
Officers were accused of attacking journalists who were at the rally, but there was no mention of which side said 'journalists' were on. And every cop can tell you stories of how 'journalists' can incite a crowd by videotaping an event and pushing forward to get "the action". If you watch video here and here you can see how the press might inflame the situation.
I wasn't in LA, but I do know that the demonstrators got what they wanted: more press. And there will be more to come as illegals come forward with ACLU lawyers to sue the LAPD for being so presumptuous as to attempt to enforce the law.
And where was the federal government? The president? Congress? Hiding under their desks and planning their own political futures, too scared to address the situation. It's their cowardice and indifference that have made this situation so tenuous, yet still they refuse to act.
It's time to force them to do the right thing.
