al-Qaeda *gasp* in Pakistan???
Pakistani security forces have sure been busy since VP Cheney visited recently. Cheney apparently asked the Pakistanis "to do more" to stop a-Q before the much-vaunted Spring offensive starts.
Reuters reported yesterday that Mullah Obaidullah Akhund, a high-level al-Qaeda commander, was arrested in the southwestern city of Quetta.
The Pakistani security official said Akhund's arrest was the culmination of a planned operation, and was not a result of Cheney's visit.
Huh.
Hot Air reports today that there may have been more spoils of the "planned operation". Amir Khan Haqqani, who has been on the "targets of opportunity" list for years, appears to be the lucky winner this time.
It seems that somebody knows where these people are hiding and got to them quickly after Cheney offered a few kind words of support. Can Usama bin Hidin' be far away?
Note to Pakistan: kill more, arrest less. That is all.
