Murtha insults our allies
It's bad enough that the Democrats are constantly insulting our troops and undermining their every effort in Iraq and around the world.
But now they are going after our allies, too.
Loudmouth Rep. John Murtha recently went after PM John Howard, saying the Australians haven't "really participated heavily in the deployment" in Iraq and that "they haven't done anything compared to what the United States forces have done".
I'm sure that will come as a shock to the Australian troops who have served with distinction in both Iraq and Afghanistan. And to their families who mourn their losses.
Murtha is obviously incapable of thinking before he speaks, but shouldn't we expect better from our elected leaders? For a "respected" Representative to insult one of our greatest allies, in time of war, is absolutely disgusting.
Murtha took exception, apparently, to Howard's comment about Sen. Barack Obama's plans to pull the military out of Iraq, should he be elected president. Howard's opinion was that al-Qaeda need only sit back and wait until the Dems gain the White House and they (al-Qaeda) will have won the war.
Makes sense to me.
And then Murtha actually said that as soon as the U.S. leaves, the Iraqi's themselves will wipe out all of al-Qaeda, and that our presence there is actually undermining that effort.
Unbelievable.
Actually, since he said it on CNN, he probably figured no one was watching, anyway.
I, for one, am damned glad to have the Aussies by our side. We need them now more than ever!
