Kennedy: 'Bush's Vietnam'
Yesterday, Sen. Ted Kennedy sought to undercut the President by offering his own sound byte: Iraq is Bush’s Vietnam. Not our Vietnam, as in we, the American people, but Bush's. Life must be something when you can rationalize like that.
In response, Mark Levin destroys Ted Kennedy: "He has blood on his hands!"
Wow.
Make no mistake, Iraq will be a graveyard if we pull out of there. There will be mass murder and butchery on an epic scale. Something that the Democrats and the MSM can really call a "civil war". And this time, with no referee. We must help the Iraqi people, whether they can help themselves or not.
Our wonderful allies in Britain and Australia and elsewhere will see that we are not a nation of our word. Not a nation that honors its commitments or supports and defends its allies. But rather a nation that runs from a fight when its nose is bloodied.
The rest of the Middle East will see that America cannot be trusted. Our friends in Israel will be more isolated than ever. Our allies in Saudi Arabia and Jordan and Kuwait and elsewhere will be unsupported in their democratic efforts in the face of threats by Iran, China and Russia. The moderates in Iran and Syria would have no place left to turn. The Middle East will soon be on fire.
And none of them would ever stand by us again.
More terrorists and Jihadists will be encouraged by our retreat. Just ask Osama bin Laden, who can came to that conclusion when Clinton pulled us out of Somalia to save some bad press.
We must honor our word and keep our commitment. We must continue to pursue our enemies on hostile ground, before we must pursue them here. We must press every advantage against this madness raging all around the world.
Not for the safety of the Iraqi people, but for the safety of ours.
I don't support President Bush's plan to send in more troops unless and until our war plans change. Fighting these people while blindfolded and hogtied was a major mistake. Using our military as policemen has not worked. And many people have died because of it.
We are not fighting a foolish enemy. They watch us, learn our tactics and adapt, as any fighting force must. They have also learned that the way to beat us is through the MSM and weak politicians. They are beating us with video and sound bytes, and people like Ted Kennedy are making it even easier for them.
Maybe they know America even better than we do.
