On December 9, 1981, Philadelphia Police Officer Danial Faulkner was newly married and not yet twenty-seven years old. That night he made a traffic stop on a car going the wrong way and a scuffle ensued with the driver. The driver's brother, Mumia Abu-Jamal, watching from across the street, ran over to "help".
He pulled a pistol he was carrying and shot Ofcr. Faulkner in the back. The officer returned fire, hitting Abu-Jamal, who then shot the officer again, this time in the face. The officer later died of his wounds. Abu-Jamal was arrested but has maintained his innocence ever since. He was convicted and sentenced to death in 1982. His death sentence has since been overturned and appeals continue to this day.
Since then, Abu-Jamal, a Black Panther, has become something of a hero to the left, Hollywood types, cop haters, death-penalty opponents and even France.
Yes, France.
In 2003, Abu-Jamal was actually made an "honorary" citizen of Paris and he has just recently had a street named after him, named Mumia, in Saint-Denis, where 80 percent of the 100,000 residents are either black and/or Arab.
They have reasons for supporting Abu-Jamal, they say. The death penalty is "racist", they'll tell you. Or maybe you'll get the anti-police brutality rant. They swear that they will see Abu-Jamal's life spared.
A resolution condemning the naming of the street in Saint-Denis for the convicted cop-killer came up in Congress today and passed. However, among those voting against the resolution was John Conyers, D., Michigan, who will Chair the Judiciary Committee next session, which oversees the administration of justice within the federal courts, administrative agencies and Federal law enforcement entities.
Conyers, according to WorldNetDaily:
...has been on the Mumia campaign since the start, signing letters, addressing rallies and pressuring former President Clinton to intervene. Conyers similarly has embraced the cause of Leonard Peltier, the convicted murderer of 2 FBI special agents. Conyers argues that Mumia, a Muslim African-American, and Peltier, an American Indian, are victims of a racist and bigoted system. He also sued the Department of Justice in 2002 to force an open hearing for Rabih Haddad, leader of a group that U.S. officials said raised money in the U.S. for Osama bin Laden's al-Qaida terrorist group.
This is who the Democrats have picked to lead this nation. Amazing.
By the way, Charlie Rangel and Jesse Jackson also voted against the resolution, as did the racist Cynthia McKinney.
From the Independent Conservative:
The resolution passed 368 - 31. 8 Democrats including John Lewis and Sheila Jackson-Lee voted “present”. 25 members of Congress did not vote at all, including Memphis Tennessee’s Harold Ford Jr. and Pennsylvania’s John Murtha. Murtha was a late co-sponsor of the resolution, but failed to show up for the vote.
Interestingly, the resolution also commended every police officer in America and around the world for their commitment to public service and public safety. No wonder so many Democrats voted against it.
But these people need a poster boy, and Abu-Jamal - and even Leonard Peltier, murderer of two FBI Agents - fit the bill nicely. He's a minority, after all, and therefore a victim of the racism white police establishment, so never mind the facts, he's innocent.
Well, the facts matter to me. Regardless of what you believe, Abu-Jamal was carrying a gun and intervened in a situation that he was not involved in, murdering a Philadelphia Police Officer in the performance of his duties. He should pay with his life. Soon.
These people amaze me. They hate cops, especially white ones, but they don't mind calling 9-1-1 when they get robbed or raped or shot. They blast the police as racist, but don't mind advocating killing cops, or even all white people, everywhere. They say the cops are brutal and would begrudge police officers the right to protect themselves, and others, when necessary, then decry the level of violence in the inner-city and among minorities. Sorry, folks, you can't have it both ways.
Daniel Faulkner died doing his job. he was trying to help and keep safe all the people of Philadelphia. And he paid for that with his life.
If you want justice, ask for some for the family of this fine young police officer.

Justice will NOT be served until Mumia is fried.

Evergreen Community College up here actually had this cop killer as a speaker a few years back (via telephone). Evergreen is over the top hippie. It was sick. Many actors have jumped on this animals band wagon and just don't understand why.

My sister and brother-in-law were married the same day as Maureen and Daniel Faulkner. They have a 25 year old daughter who is a college graduate and a 22 year old son who is in his first year of law school. I wonder what Maureen and Daniel's children would be doing today if they had the chance to be born? Where is the justice? Maybe Mike Farrell or Whoopie Goldberg can answer that question.
