John Kerry has canceled all appearances in the wake of his insults and lies about the U.S. military and now Democrats are distancing themselves and calling on him to apologize.
Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Harold Ford Jr:
“Whatever the intent, Senator Kerry was wrong to say what he said,” Rep. Ford said. “He needs to apologize to our troops.”
From BREITBART:
"Sen. Kerry's remarks were poorly worded and just plain stupid," said Montana Senate President Jon Tester, a Democrat trying to unseat GOP Sen. Conrad Burns. "He owes our troops and their families an apology."
"I'm sorry he did what he did. But I think the issue ... we want to make sure it doesn't confuse the subject of the war in Iraq," Democratic Rep. Ben Cardin, running for Senate in Maryland, said on CNN.
Et, tu, Sen. Clinton?
Sen. Hillary Clinton, speaking at a Kingston campaign stop this morning, joined the chorus of Democrats criticizing Sen. John Kerry for what the former presidential candidate has called a joke gone awry.
“What Sen. Kerry said was inappropriate,” she said.
Dems are also saying "No, thanks" to Kerry support.
A Democratic Congressional candidate from Iowa is canceling a campaign event later this week with Senator John Kerry. Brucy Braley says Kerry's recent comments about the Iraq war were inappropriate.
[...]
Braley's decision to distance himself from Kerry came as a furor grew from comments Kerry made about the Iraq War during a campaign stop in California on Monday.
And Kerry still refuses to apologize, insisting his comments were a "botched joke" aimed at the president and not at the troops. Anyone who has seen the tape or read the transcript of the Kerry comments can spot that lie.
And if it truly was a "botched joke", why not apologize and be done?
I'll tell you why: Kerry believes what he said, despite facts to the contrary.
He's a perfect example of a New England elitist with a law degree who married into money and thinks everyone else is below him. He's completely out of touch with mainstream America.
Also notice that the Democratic condemnation of Kerry is very measured. Even those who have asked for him to apologize insist that he just "made a mistake". And the MSM, of course, falls into that category, as well.
Kerry is a dose of reality for all Americans. He represents the ideals of the Democratic party well and his comments and insults offer an ugly example of what life would be like if the Dems take power again.
They hate the military. They are against border control, coerced interrogation, listening to terrorist phone calls and the patriot act. Instead, the Dems would talk to and negotiate directly with Hamas, the North Koreans, Iranians, Cubans etc.
New York Senator Hillary Clinton called for a broad reform of US foreign policy that would include better cooperation with other nations and bilateral talks with enemy nations.
Criticizing President George W. Bush's foreign policy from Iraq to Afghanistan and North Korea to Iran, the wife of former president Bill Clinton called for a more internationalist approach to foreign policy in a speech at the Council on Foreign Relations, a New York-based foreign policy think tank
Hmm, it worked when her husband did it, right? Didn't it?
Clinton also defended the idea of bilateral talks with nations that Washington has been avoiding, such as Iran and Cuba.
"We must value diplomacy as well as a strong military," Clinton continued. "We should not hesitate to engage in the world's most difficult conflicts on a diplomatic front."
"Direct negotiations are not a sign of weakness; they're a sign of leadership," she said.
Sure they are. Even more telling:
Clinton blasted what she said was the Bush administration's "simplistic division of the world into good and evil. They refuse to talk to anyone on the evil side, as some have called that idealistic. I call it dangerously unrealistic."
Referring to the Bush administration's refusal to talk directly to North Korea she said: "Six years of policy with no carrots no sticks and only bad results."
Again, worked in North Korea? Right?
I do agree with one of her talking points, however:
"In an increasingly interdependent world," Clinton said, "it is in our interest to stand for human rights, to promote religious freedom, democracy, women's rights, social justice and economic empowerment."
"But reality is, we cannot force others, nations and people, to accept those values. We have to support those who embrace them and lead by example," she said.
That's all well and good, but when they are blowing up your countrymen, it's time to lead by the example of ass kicking.
I hope that every American will consider what is truly important before voting next week.
The war against terrorism that has already been brought to our shores.
The continuing battle against rouge nations like Iran and North Korea who continue to threaten our existence.
Our wide-open northern and southern borders.
The non-stop flood of illegal aliens coming from who-knows-where.
The economy.
Jobs.
World leadership in the face of rising Islamic extremism.
Those are the serious issues facing America this very moment. And if you think that the Dems are capable of leading us in the face of all of that, I think that's how you should vote.
