Herschel Smith at The Captain’s Journal has this great post up about the effectiveness of enemy snipers in Iraq. Go read it.
As for snipers on our side, The Sixth Annual International Sniper Competition was held at Fort Benning, Ga., on November 2nd, with 26 sniper teams from the Army, Marines and Air Force, as well as elite teams from Canada, England and Israel.
Army Special Operations units dominated the competition, with winnders from the Rangers, Special Forces, and Delta. The top Marine team finished a respectable sixth. The top international team came from Great Britain's Coldstream Guards, finishing tenth.
The results are here. That site also has video.
There's a slideshow of the competition here.
