The Dixie Chicks' music career is in a tail-spin and they'll do - and say - anything to right the ship again.
They have recently slammed Mel Gibson (but really, who hasn't?).
And cancelled several U.S. shows due to a complete lack of interest.
Now they have resorted to cursing out President Bush in their new "film" Dixie Chicks: Shut Up and Sing.
In the documentary, which covers the Chick's after singer Natalie Maines told a Brit audience that she was ''ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas,'' in 2003, Maines strikes again.
In one memorable scene, Maines watches news footage of the president being interviewed about the furor that followed the singer's on-stage comment that she was ''ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas,'' which resulted in the group being dropped from most radio stations, as well as protests and plummeting sales. ''The Dixie Chicks are free to speak their mind,'' Bush told Tom Brokaw at the time, adding, ''They shouldn't have their feelings hurt just because some people don't want to buy their records when they speak out. You know, freedom is a two-way street.''
After watching this footage, Maines repeats the president's comment about how the group shouldn't have their ''feelings hurt,'' incredulous, and then says, ''What a dumb f---.'' She then looks into the camera, as if addressing Bush, and reiterates, ''You're a dumb f---.''
And naturally, she has to show the film in another country to make her point. The "film" will open at the Toronto Film Festival this week.
Now, whether you agree with POTUS or not, going to another country to bad mouth him is, in my mind, treasonous, especially in time of war.
Personally, I think Natalie Maines is too stupid to have an original thought without some outside influence. She said something moronic once, it caused a stir, and now she's trying the same pathetic attention-seeking technique again to promote their "film".
But I think the American audience is smarter - and better - than that.
From Amy Proctor:
What pinnacles of femininity and class. What an articulate exposition of the 1st Amendment.
These particular liberals are disgusting, classless boobs who despise patriotism and are incapable of legitimately critiquing opponents. There's a reason for this: they can't debate on the basis of an argument. It's clear talking to these people is like throwing pearls before swine.
Hopefully they will stay in Canada.
From Sister Toldjah:
Ever notice how she tends to make these disparaging comments about the Prez. when she’s NOT in the US? What’s the matter, Natalie? Too chick(s)en to say ‘em on your home turf?
And speaking of the Toronto Film Festival, where the Chicks documentary debuts tonight, “The Death of a President” was shown at the Toronto Film Festival a couple of days ago. Wonder if Natalie arrived early to get a front row seat?
I couldn't have said it better. Keep the Chicks boycott going!

Her reaction to his "non-reaction" is typical of a bully who can't get a rise out of someone they are trying to hurt. What she said didn't offend him or harm him in any fashion. Their fall from grace is indicative of what happens to those that hate - the people they hate aren't hurt at all, but the hater grows darker inside and their soul is clouded.

Perhaps they should schedule more shows in Germany?

I used to love them, saw them in concert, had all their cds and listened all the time. After she (and eventually the other two) started bad mouthing the President I tossed the three cds and have never listened to them since. And never will.
